Chubby Chicks Quilt

I am working on the "Chubby Chicks" quilt from Black Mountain Quilts http://blackmountainquilts.com/patterns.php

I will show some progress.. but hey... I am a slow "chick"!!
I started with the pin wheels and I used 3" thangles (paper triangles)  to make them..
you can learn all about them http://www.thangles.com/howtheywork.html

First Make the triangles with thangles

Press open
Chain sew square to form the rows

You can "chain sew" 2 rows together
Now you are ready to iron

Here is my "best friend" the iron
I need a stack of 24 pinwheels

I am now working on the chubby chics blocks... but mastering the Invisible machine appliqué is a challenge!!! I will update tomorrow with more progress.

Recycled upholstery Messenger Bag

As architects we received many samples for upholstery and drapery fabrics ...and once we renew the collections, we end up with many, many beautiful samples that end up in the landfill. We came up with the idea of recycling the samples and create hand bags for the upcoming UINTA school art program fundraiser...it was a lot of fun...and I hope we raise lots of money for the art program!

How to? : I used the pattern "Smarty Girl" from Heather Bailey and I bought it at Piper's quilts in sugarhouse, Salt Lake City.
